Our topic this week is All About Me. Since we had few new students in class we wanted to get to know them better. The students who came from English C class had a chance to tell more about themselves. They all practised introducing themselves in front of the class, ask and answer questions and also write about themselves on their websites. Today students worked excitedly on their self portraits that will be displayed in our classroom. We will publish their pictures on the class website as well.
EA students are very enthusiastic about creating their websites. Over the weekend they added new pages and tomorrow during their ICT lesson will be working on correcting their English. Check out their websites here. To be able to see their sites you need a a password. Ask you children what it is.
Today in ICT lesson students started their own websites. It was very exciting! They designed their backgrounds and learned how to add new pages. The first page that they added was called 'About Me', but it is still work in progress so far. Lots of work is ahead!
This week on Wednesday and Thursday Rego school students from Year 2 up to Year 13 are performing a famous children story 'The Wizard of Oz'. It has taken many weeks of hard work to prepare this fantastic production. The show will be on from 7-9 pm. On those days the primary students will stay at school after the lessons. Please provide packed dinner and snacks.
Today all students took part in the dress rehearsal. The show promises to be brilliant and the tickets are still on sale.

On Friday 18 March students from Years 3-6 joined together to show us four Scottish dances that they had learned in their PE classes. The most difficult part for the children was to find a partner for their dance: boys were supposed to dance with the girls! Scottish dances are very rhythmical, require lots of moving about and are a good way to keep fit. Many teachers and secondary students joined in the dance and it was LOTS OF FUN!!! Thank you very much to Mr. Macregor for teaching us the Scottish dancing!
Today English A students went to the Tianjin Zoo. The trip was linked to our topic on Animals in Science. We had a list of questions we wanted to find the answers to. Here are just some of them:
1. Where were the animals kept? Cages? Open/enclosed spaces?
2. Were they comfortable? Did they have enough space?
3. Were they kept in the conditions close to natural?
The students made notes and drew some pictures.
The trip went very well and the weather was just perfect. At the end we went to see the monkeys that were kept in the open space. We bought some fruit to feed them and the monkeys became so excited that they started jumping on us, trying to get the whole bowl of fruit at once! It was a little scary but very funny at the same time. We all enjoyed our trip to the zoo!
Learning a new grammar point doesn't have to be a chore. We like playing games to help us learn more language. Today in English students were learning how to make negative sentences using the verb 'to be'. We played a very good game that helped us to learn the grammar without even knowing it. We had lots of flashcards, a sand clock and a ball. The children had to make correct sentences as they passed the ball to each other. The aim of the game was to say sentences correctly and pass the ball quickly to the next player before the time was up. The child with the ball in his/her hands at the end of the game was the loser.
Well, everybody was very excited and lots of learning and practice took place in the classroom. Look at more pictures of the game here.
My name is Mrs. Arbon. This is my 11th year at Rego and I enjoy teaching ESL for the primary students.
