In English we concentrated on the reading comprehension work. Students learned that we must write the answers in full sentences. We also looked at how to form the questions in the present and past tenses. Children also had some practice in using speech marks in their writing.
For Topic this week EA students took part in the whole school PE Department project related to the World Cup Rugby. Our class had to research Ireland and Irish Rugby Team. We found out some interesting information that you can find here, We created a poster in ICT and Art classes. It is now displayed in the foyer near cafeteria alongside with the other school posters.
For Word Level work we looked at the homophones, e.g. son-sun, see-sea, our-hour. Students had a competition when they could get a housepoint if they found 6 pairs of homophones. They were very excited and kept running to me with the new pair of homophones every play time. The winner was certainly Kevin because he found the biggest number of homophone pairs.
Spellings this week: Magic 'e': o_e , double consonants.
In Maths we opened accounts for our students with www.tutpup.com Students then enjoyed playing mental maths games for all 4 maths operations.
